The Passing-Out Parade
Play by Anne Valery. Directed by Vanessa Everts.
This all-female play charts the fortunes of six ATS girls in World War II, from their arrival as a hotch-potch assortment of unformed, awkward individuals to their passing-out as soldiers. As they train together, their personalities and relationships shift, through comedy, drama and, in one case, eventual tragedy. The action centres on the girls' barrack room, with small insets in nearby places. Performed at the Bellairs Playhouse, Guildford, this production featured Jennifer Birch, Amy Darcy, Laura Dymock, Beatrice Lynne, Dionne Waters, Anna-Marie Wayne, Jennifer Williams and Georgina Wills. Stage management and design were by Jo Nield and Ross McFarlane. Produced by Vanessa Everts and members of the company.
