This all-female play charts the fortunes of six ATS girls in World War II, from their arrival as a hotch-potch assortment of unformed, awkward individuals to their passing-out as soldiers. As they train together, their personalities and relationships shift, through comedy, drama and, in one case, eventual tragedy. The action centres on the girls' barrack room, with small insets in nearby places.
